Scottish Christian Party Makes a Stand in Dunfermline

Revd James George Hargreaves, the leader of the Scottish Christian Party (formally Operation Christian Vote) has been nominated by Christians re-presenting a wide range of Church traditions, found in and around Dunfermline, to stand as a candidate in the Dunfermline and West Fife by-election.
In his Election Address Revd Hargreaves wrote:

"I have read in the local press how virtually every party fighting this by-election has promised to fight for the Queen Margaret Hospital, to improve the City centre, help those made redundant by Lexmark, curtail the Forth Bridge toll and even build a new bridge. It appears that these extremely important local issues will be attended to whomever you vote for.
Only by voting for the Scottish Christian Party will issues of righteousness before God be addressed in the politics of Dunfermline and West Fife.
Actually, the place where many of the factors underlying the above mentioned important issues will really be dealt with is in the Scottish Parliament and Fife Council. Next year the Scottish Christian Party plans to contest the Scottish local authority and parliamentary elections. If successful we will champion those matters on your behalf, in a godly fashion, with integrity, hard work and honesty.
However, before committing the necessary resources to fighting next years elections in the Mid Scotland and Fife region the Scottish Christian Party needs to be sure that Christians in Fife bear witness to, and are in agreement with our standing.
Psalm 133:3 teaches us that where there is unity God commands a blessing. Luke 14:28-32 teaches us that before taking on an enterprise or going to battle one should assess the likelihood of success. That is why in this election the Scottish Christian Party are not seeking to persuade anyone to their way of thinking. We are not seeking to force our faith onto anyone. We are like Elijah sitting under the juniper tree wondering whether we are the only ones that “have not bowed unto Baal” (1 Kings 19:18) or whether the 5% of the vote, necessary to win a seat in Holyrood, exists in Fife.
So, I am standing to find the Elishas who will go on to do twice as much as I. I am standing in order to call out Christian men and women who are willing to stand in the local and national corridors of political power in Scotland; “and having done all, to stand” (Ephesians 6:13,14)
I therefore have just one election promise: If the Scottish Christian Party polls 5% or more in this by-election, the Scottish Christian Party, the Lord being its helper, will fight the 2007 local and parliamentary elections in Fife; making available resources to local Christian candidates who are called and gifted with the gift of ‘governments’ (1 Corinthians 12:28).
I have given you my promise, will you give me your vote?"
